What is TENEBRESCENCE?
TENEBRESCENCE is a cotton knitwear brand founded in New York in 2026 and sold only through tenebrescence.co. The name comes from tenebrescence, a property of certain minerals that darken under light and let the colour go again in the dark.
What does TENEBRESCENCE make?
One crew-neck pullover for men and one for women. There are no other styles, no hoodies, no high-neck or roll-neck models, and no other product lines.
What is the knitwear made of?
100% cotton, using a 32s/2 two-ply yarn. No wool, no polyester, no blends.
Where is it made?
Made in China, knitted fully-fashioned on 12-gauge machines.
How is it constructed?
Fully-fashioned on 12-gauge machines: twelve needles per inch, with every panel knitted to its final shape rather than cut from a length of fabric. The all-over English herringbone is made by transferring stitches one by one, so the pattern is built into the structure of the cloth, not printed or knitted as a jacquard. It covers the whole outer surface of the garment — front, back and sleeves — not the seams or the lining.
What are the details?
The front is plain, with no logo or print. The name is knitted tone-on-tone on the back near the right shoulder, readable only up close. A hand-sewn tartan binding sits inside the collar. The men's pullover has a diamond lattice on the forearm; the women's pullover has a botanical berry embroidery on the sleeve.
Which colours are available?
Men's: Ink Navy Blue, Deep Forest Green and Charcoal. Women's: Ink Navy Blue, Deep Forest Green and Deep Burgundy.
What sizes are there and how does it fit?
Men's sizes M, L and XL; women's sizes S, M and L. The fit is deliberately not oversized. The men's line is cut like a suit, with a clean, structured shoulder line; the women's line is softly shaped at the waist. Take your usual size. How much does it cost?
$130. The price is the same in every country we ship to, and it includes shipping, import duties and taxes. Nothing is charged on delivery.
Where do you ship?
We ship from New York to the United States, Canada, the European Union, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore. Shipping, duties and taxes are covered for every destination.
How long does delivery take?
United States: 2–5 business days. Most other destinations: 4–10 business days; a few take up to 14. Every order is tracked.
Can I return it?
Yes, within 14 days of delivery, no reason needed. The piece should be tried on only, not worn or washed. Return shipping and any charges for sending it back to the United States are paid by the customer; we refund the full $130. We do not exchange sizes. How do I care for it?
Wash cold, inside out. Dry flat; do not hang. The piece shrinks about 2 cm after the first wash, and the sizes already allow for that.
